Not a long post tonight. We have arrived in Uluru country and so as tourists do we went on a camel ride at sunset. It was great, apart from the part when one young camel tormented by ants bucked off his rider. She was ok but camels are very tall creatures and it was quite a fall.
There was also free drinks at the end of the ride and so we've had a few and now are hungry. Food is in my lap do I must eat. It's dark, crickets are chirruping and rabbits inhabit the grass in front of the open air kitchen area. They are sitting there statue like in the flood lights. How did rabbits get here, in the middle of the desert?
We nearly didn't get here. Yet again petrol issues. Due to a strong head wind the tank had to be switched to reserve at only 170km instead of the usual 205. Normally we only have about 40 in the reserve yet we had another 50km to go. We wouldn't have made it if we hadn't sat close behind a bus for the last 50 km soaking up its slip stream. It was really touch and go and it would have been too embarrassing calling the RAC again! But just in time there shone the shell sign and we refueled with very expensive petrol.
More tomorrow, now I eat.
